The Texarkana, Arkansas Police Force is  participating in the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Arkansas-side Public Information Officer Kristi Mitchell says the department is proud to participate in such an outstanding event for such a work cause. The local department is joining over 85,000 law enforcement officers who will carry the Flame of Hope across 35 nations.

The event will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. starting in the Wal-Mart Parking lot on Arkansas Boulevard. Texarkana, Arkansas Police officers will carry the torch over 18 miles before handing it off to officers from the Hope Police Department. I got a chance to snap a quick picture of the officers running down Arkansas Blvd this morning.
