Special Olympics Torch Run in Arkansas
The Texarkana, Arkansas Police Force is once again this year participating in the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Arkansas-side Public Information Officer Kristi Mitchell says the department is proud to participate in such an outstanding event for such a work cause. The local department is joining over 85,000 law enforcement officers who will carry the Flame of Hope across 35 nations.
The event will begin Tuesday May 22 at 8 a.m. starting in the Wal-Mart Parking lot on Arkansas Boulevard. Texarkana, Arkansas Police officers will carry the torch over 18 miles before handing it off to officers from the Hope Police Department.
