Do you enjoy sleep? I love a room that is cool while I snuggle underneath a soft, fluffy blanket then I fall asleep as the warmth permeates my body.

We know that sleep is essential for the body to function properly. If we are too tired our eyes droop, a headache may ensue and our mood shifts to crankiness. When my husband sees me demonstrate any or all three of these symptoms he says, "I have had enough. You need a nap!"

Why should we allow our bodies to rejuvenate? According to a report from NPR, "during sleep, the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain increases dramatically, washing away harmful waste proteins that build up between brain cells during waking hours."

One harmful waste product is beta- amyloid, a peptide of amino acids found in Alzheimer's patients which decreases in sleep. Therefore, researchers hope to find the connection between sleep and beta-amyloid.
