This beautiful, large oil painting of a napping dog is 40” x 48." The artist is Tommy Allen. The interesting story behind this painting is while Tommy Allen was traveling in South America, this stray dog followed him around. He fed the dog throughout the day. When he later came across him napping on the church steps, he became the subject of this painting.

There are many other beautiful paintings as well as other items up for auction.

The event at the Gallery is Saturday, February 23 beginning at 10 a.m. There will be live music, refreshments, face painting and much more fun! Dog adoptions too!

Click here to bid on the items. Place your bid by commenting on the photo of the item or you can enter your bid at the gallery.

Groups benefiting from this event: Arklatex Cocker Rescue, Boxer Rescue of Texarkana, Jeff Tarpley Rescue, Muttley Crew Rescue, Toby's Tales, Passion for Pooches Rescue and the Texarkana Animal League.

TAL will also be accepting applications for adopting or fostering currently-homeless dog and cats. There will be a variety of dogs and cats looking for homes. Adoption fees vary per dog and cat adoption fees are $80. All of these animals are current on their vaccines and have been spayed or neutered; many are even micro chipped.

TAL is a 501c3 nonprofit run by a group of volunteers that is dedicated to improving the welfare of animals in our community. All proceeds will benefit animal care and adoptions, and will assist with our community outreach programs such as a low-income spay/neuter assistance program, as well as educational and service projects to assist TAL's belief that all animals are deserving of life, respect and care. In 2011, over 1500 shelter animals received vaccinations & medications from funds raised and we will continue to provide the same care to shelter animals this year and into the future. Since 2009, we spayed and neutered over 500 animals in the community with our Low Income Spay/Neuter Assistance Program in addition to hundreds of animals that found homes through our Foster Care Program.
