The “5k Run for Recovery” will be held in May to benefit Damascus Home of Redwater Inc., a non-profit, faith-based, drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in the Ark-La-Tex. In addition to the 5k run there will be a retail fair, live bands, food vendors, bounce houses, car show and health fair.

The Damascus Home of Redwater Inc. is a non-profit 501c3 organization. They are a faith-based, drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in the Ark-La-Tex that promotes and encourages individuals who are suffering from addiction to make changes in their lives. The proceeds from this event will be given directly to Damascus Home. The main aim of the 5k race for recovery is to help certain individuals overcome their alcohol, drug or any sort of addiction that has been tying them down from the life of an overwhelming joy.

This event is set for Saturday, May 17, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at TAMU Texarkana Common Grounds. Registration for walkers and runners is $25. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to race to sign in.

Damascus Home of Redwater, Inc. provides quality services and care for women, men and their families who suffer from the disastrous effects of addiction. As a non-medical recovery and treatment program, it provides an extensive spiritual life and application skills that will help them find hope and God’s purpose for their lives. It has a facility for men located at ten wooden acres in Maud, Texas. The separate facility for women is situated in Queen City, Texas.

The booth fee for vendors is $50. The car show participants will pay $25. Prizes will be given out to car owners and runners.
