After months and months of anticipation, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story had its world premiere in Los Angeles last night, and the early reviews are absolutely glowing. Film critics and celebrities alike have commented on the blend of action and heart in the newest film  —  and, curiously, noted that a lot of the trailer footage did not find its way into the finished film  —  giving fans hope that Rogue One will be the next great thing to happen to the Star Wars universe. One more week, everyone. Tickets at the ready.

For those of us not lucky enough to be in Los Angeles, though, Lucasfilm (via ComingSoon.net) came through with a reconciliation prize: two brand new clips from the film, featuring some great shots of the Rogue One crew in action. Take a look:

In the first clip, we see the rescue of Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso. Or, I suppose, the attempted rescue of Jyn Erso before she beats the hell out of her would-be rescuers and makes her own mad dash for freedom. In the second clip, we see a troubled landing by the Rogue One crew in the midst of a storm on a volcanic planet. Both clips feature a heavy dose of K-2SO, who many people have described as one of the early standouts of the new Star Wars film. From the patter to the soundtrack, everything about these two clips feels like vintage Star Wars; hopefully they’ll serve as a satisfying Rogue One appetizer before next week’s main course.

For those who need a helpful reminder of where Rogue One fits into the Star Wars universe, here’s the full synopsis:

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens everywhere on December 16, 2016.
