Whether you like spicy hot links, succulent beef brisket or the sauce slathered yumminess of ribs, there is something for every appetite at Railfest 2012.

Everyone from novice home cooks to restaurant owners are gathering today in downtown Texarkana to compete in the Big Jake’s Barbecue Cook-Off. Over 20 teams, made up of a mixture of friends and colleagues to grandfathers and their grandkids, are grilling on anything imaginable, from big smokers to green eggs and home style barbecue pits.

But one thing they all have in common is that they all want to take home the grand prize of $1,000 and bragging rights to the best barbecue in town! Judges will taste the hard work of these culinary masters at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon to select this year’s champion.

So come down and explore the flavors of Railfest today at the corner of Wood and Fourth Street in downtown Texarkana. The festival is open until 5 p.m. Then come back at 6 p.m. and stay for the Diamond Rio concert featuring Copper Road beginning at 7 p.m. We’ll save a spot for you!
