The annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Texarkana is set for 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Front Street Festival Plaza in Downtown Texarkana. The Relay is a celebration of cancer survivors and a fun way to raise money to help find a cure for cancer. The Relay will celebrate the lives of hundreds of local residents who have survived cancer, while offering the hope of finding a cure.

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the Survivors Lap where cancer survivors take a victory lap. A candlelight ceremony also takes place to honor cancer survivors and remember those who have lost the fight against this disease. The candle lighting will begin at 9 p.m., and luminary bags for the ceremony can be purchased at the event.

There will be music, team fundraising activities, fun-themed laps and contests. Relay For Life is a family friendly, non-smoking, non-alcoholic event. There is no admission fee. You may register at the event or online: Relay For Life - Texarkana.

All funds raised during Relay For Life help support the American Cancer Society’s mission of eliminating cancer by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back.
