Register for the Walk/Run For Life in Texarkana

The 18th Annual Walk For Life to benefit First Choice Pregnancy Resource Center in Texarkana is set for Saturday, May 6, in Spring Lake Park. This will be a fun-filled event for the entire family, including dogs.

Events this year are walk, 5k, 10k and the 1 mile Fun Run for kids. Registration for the 5k and 10k starts at 7AM and the races start at 7:30AM. Awards will be given for first, second, and third place for male and female in each age category as well as for overall male and overall female. There will also be a category for moms or dads running with strollers.

"The Walk/Run for Life is one of two major fundraisers we have each year," said Kristie Wright, Executive Director of First Choice Pregnancy Center. "All funds stay in the community and go directly toward client services, and allow us to further our mission of empowering clients to choose life. Last year, we served nearly 1200 women and men and their children by providing free pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, prenatal and parenting classes, along with genuine, non-judgmental, peer support."

Walk registration begins at 7:30AM, and there will be plenty of activities all morning. The one mile Fun Run starts at 8AM, and the walk starts at 9:30AM.  All walkers who raise $100 or more receive a T-shirt (runners who reach this fundraising level will also receive a prize). There will also be prizes for team themes.

There will be bounce houses, music, face painting, pancakes for purchase, and lots of other activities between events, so bring the family including the dog. Funds raised will go directly to services for men and women in our community facing unplanned pregnancies that will empower them to choose life.
