There's going to be a traffic headache for some in Texarkana while repairs are made near a railroad crossing.

According to the city officials with Texarkana, Texas, contractors have closed the section of Forest Lake Drive near the Kansas City Southern Railroad crossing in the Forest Lake subdivision. The section of road is completely closed to traffic. The work is estimated to take eight weeks before the road is reopened.

The Federal Railroad Administration has mandated that trains will have to blow their horns in the area until road work is completed, temporarily eliminating the Forest Lake and Lake Ridge Quiet Zones established in the area. Once the work on this section is completed, the Quiet Zones will be re-instituted.

Those drivers that usually use that path to either get into or out of that neighborhood will have to find an alternative route until the work on the project is complete. Weather permitting that should occur around early September.
