Provide a Pet a Pad for Three Amazing Dogs at the Shelter
Three dogs at the animal shelter will soon be taking a trip out of the wrong door if they are not adopted or moved into foster homes quickly. Spike, Candy and Dotty deserve a chance to have a life beyond the confinement of the animal shelter. Please share their video and photos to help find great homes for each of these sweet dogs.
Spike, Candy and Dotty each offer different types of companionship. Spike is chilled and would like to be on yard patrol when not sitting on the porch with you. Dotty is a love buddy and would enjoy hanging out with the kids while they played. Candy is spunky and needs a more active owner who wants to play games.
Dotty (pictured above) is an older gal that loves her food and lounging around while getting lots of hugs and kisses from her family. This photo was caught during the one and only time she ran while her video was being taken. Most of the time she meandered around. She is a very laid back lady.
Candy (pictured above) is a fireball. She is around 2 years old. She loves to romp and play. A family that likes to stay active and spend a lot of time in the backyard would be great for Candy. She likes affection and will provide lots of laughter to her family. She likes to clown around a bit.
Spike (pictured above) is an adult dog has an interest in checking out the landscape then chilling out laying in the grass or on the porch. If you have an older relative that needs a companion, Spike would like to apply for the job.
If you are interested in adopting, fostering or sponsoring any of these dogs, please contact Bertha at the animal shelter by calling 870-773-6388, option 3. If you sponsor a dog that means that you will pay the fee to have the dog fixed and get a rabies vaccination. Once that is done, the adoption fee will only be $40 which makes it much easier to get a dog adopted from the shelter.
The Animal Care and Adoption Center in Texarkana, Ark., is our only animal shelter in town. They have a few hundred dogs and cats that need to be reclaimed or adopted. Room is always an issue at a city animal shelter. We feature an animal each week to help get the word out about many of these great pets.
T-shirts are available at the animal shelter now. They are only $18 and will help support the animals at the shelter. Thanks for supporting our shelter animals.
Please visit the shelter’s new Facebook page to see if there is an animal there that you would be interested in adopting, fostering or sponsoring.
It is so unfortunate that there are thousands of dogs that are euthanized every year in our local shelter when there are so many dogs that would make fabulous pets. Please help us make a difference by spreading the word. Share this post on your Facebook page and Tweet about it, too.
The shelter’s adoption fees range from $40 to $144, depending on the gender and size of the animal or whether they have been spayed or neutered yet. You can also have your pet microchipped for only $20 right at the shelter. That way if your pet is ever lost, he or she can be returned to you quickly.
If you would like to foster a dog contact the shelter to get information about dog rescues in our area that can help.
The Animal Care and Adoption Center is located at 203 Harrison St., Texarkana, Ark. 71854 and is open Monday through Friday from 11AM and 5PM and Saturdays from 11AM to 2PM.
