Meet Rudey! He is a male terrier mix waiting at the Texarkana animal shelter to be adopted. When he first came to the shelter several months ago he was a bit of a fighter but now this little guy has had a full transformation! He couldn't wait to run and play with other dogs. You have got to watch the video of this little guy in action!

Rudey needs to be neutered of course and that will probably help keep him in check around other dogs too. He is a great dog and enjoyed playing with other neutered dogs. He has a lot of energy but he doesn't use it to jump on people or nip. He is not a ball or frisbee player but he is a runner and he does not need much convincing to race around the yard.

The shelter's adoption fees range from $40 to $144, depending on the gender and size of the animal or whether they have been spayed or neutered yet.

It is so unfortunate that there are thousands of dogs that are euthanized every year in our local shelter when there are so many dogs that would make fabulous pets. Please help us make a difference by spreading the word--share this blog on your Facebook page, Tweet about it too.

You can also have your pet micro-chipped for only $20 right at the shelter. That way if your pet is ever lost, he or she can be returned to you quickly when they are picked up by animal control.

The Animal Care and Adoption Center is located at 203 Harrison St., Texarkana, Ark. 71854 and is open Monday through Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Call for information 870-773-6388.
