Provide a Pet a Pad: Boxer Mix Needs a Home [PHOTOS/VIDEOS]
Roman is a Boxer Mix, 1 1/2 years old, 63 lbs, long tail, brindle and just lots of love to share. His ears will make you laugh as one with stand up and the other one won’t or they flop over and look funny. He loves kids, cats, big and small dogs, and just anyone who will pay attention to him.
More information about Roman is at Boxer Rescue of Texarkana. The Foster and Adoption Applications can be downloaded and completed to start the process. For questions please email the rescue at BoxerRescueOfTexarkana@gmail.com.
His adoption fee is $150.
He loves being an indoor dog to be with people, and he needs lots of room to run and play. Since he can jump a 4 foot fence, we think he needs at least a 6 foot fence or privacy fence or invisible fence to keep him safe. He would love to be with an owner that has a lot of time to spend with him. Roman would be great to be with a family that will take him places, go for walks, runs, visiting people, going to the park, and just being a buddy. He will not be happy in a home that he is left home alone for long periods of time . He would be a great companion for a single guy/gal, couple or family!!
Roman was found in rural SW Arkansas. He had no collar or microchip, skinny, and covered in fleas and ticks. The lady who found him tried to find his owner with no luck and he was on the way to the shelter as she has had many dogs dumped there. The Director of this rescue fell in love and wanted to help him. He will jump up pretty high, so we continue to work on decreasing that behavior. In his foster home, he did jump a 4 foot fence as he wanted to be with his Foster Mom, but he did not run off. He is a very social dog and loves people. He has shown no signs of aggression.
Boxer Rescue of Texarkana paid to get Roman neutered, up to date on shots and rabies, microchipped, fecal and heartworm tests, and he is on monthly heartworm prevention. He was heartworm positive and had to go through heartworm treatment. He stayed at the vet in boarding to keep him calm for a month and he had no problems. He does have a lot of energy as he has not been worked with, but will calm down. He is just one happy dog! He does very well on the leash with no pulling. He is very smart and a comedian who will make you laugh and smile, and just so full of love. He can sit for a cookie and down on command. He needs an owner who can continue training him and recommend taking him to obedience classes. His adoption fee is $150.
Please help Roman by opening up your heart and home to foster or adopt him. He is full of love and needs to be in his forever home and not living in boarding. You will have to meet him to believe how social he is. He should be at PetsMart on Saturday September 15th for the National Adoption event, unless he gets ADOPTED before then.
He comes with a FREE wellness package from Pleasant Grove Animal Hospital (PGAH). PGAH will discuss the best ways to keep your new dog on the right track and answer any questions you may have.
