Hope, Ark., Police are investigating an overnight homicide at a residence in the city.

Authorities say at 12:49AM this morning, officers of the Hope Police Department and Pafford EMS responded to a call for service regarding a shooting at 2108 West Avenue E.

Upon arrival, Willie J. Gulley, 60,  was found inside the residence with a gunshot wound to the body. Gulley was pronounced dead by the Hempstead County Coroner at approximately 1:29AM.

Police say witness Information provided to officers during the preliminary investigation indicated Gulley committed suicide. However, an initial review of the physical evidence indicated homicide as the manner of death.

Criminal Investigators responded to conduct further investigation.  According to authorities, three brothers resided at the residence. They believe that Lee T. Momon, 70, and Gulley became involved in an argument. During the argument, Momon allegedly shot Gulley with a handgun.

Authorities have charged Momon with Murder in the First Degree. Momon was placed in the Hempstead County Law Enforcement Center Detention Facility. The suspect is awaiting a Probable Cause Determination and a First  Appearance in court.
