They say good programs don't re-build they just re-load and that's what the Pleasant Grove Hawks Baseball team expects to do again this baseball season.

The Hawks last year finished 35-4 and a state semi-finalist in Austin. Head Baseball Coach Riley Fincher says its was a fun and exciting season. The team was loaded last year with senior talent, who excelled both on the field and in the classroom.

This year the Hawks return only 3 starters from last year's very successful team. Now while this incoming group may be new to varsity, they have all been excelling on the sub varsity level in baseball and also in other sports.

Pitching is always a priority at PG, and this year they once again have a stable of arms to lean on to get the job done. Nick Voyles, Marshall Oubre, Ryan Galvan, Matthew Gilley, Riley Brimingham, Braden Hlavinka, Peyton Trammell, Tucker Anderson, and Braxton Watkins all players who have seen pre-district innings on the mound for the team.

As for hitting, Coach Fincher says it's a total team effort to produce runs, saying, "Our players know the importance of putting the individual stats to the side and doing whatever ti takes to help their team and teammates be successful. They play unselfishly and play well together as a team.

Defense wins championships, and is something the players take pride in, day in and day out.

The Hawks district is very competitive up and down and the teams are well coached according to Fincher.

Fincher says," Our expectations as a team this season are to compete on a high level everyday, and grow together as a team. Right now our focus is completely on Pittsburgh. We need to do whatever it takes as a team to give ourselves an opportunity to win the 1st district game of the season tonight(Friday)."

First pitch is slated for 6PM in Pittsburgh.

Even with a lot of new faces don't be surprised to see these Hawks playing in June again this year and making that annual run for a State Championship Good luck to Coach Fincher, his staff, and players.
