Texas A&M University-Texarkana will have its first “Pack the Park” weekend this Friday and Saturday.

The Eagles take on the Louisiana State University Shreveport Pilots at George Dobson Field at Spring Lake Park in Texarkana, Texas.

On Friday, A&M-Texarkana’s Student Success Center and Student Life office will co-sponsor a tailgate at the park, beginning at 4:30 p.m. There will be lawn games, a bounce house, food specials and live music by singer-songwriter Katie Basden of Nashville. Game time is 6 p.m.

Basden most recently placed as a Top 20 finalist on NBC’s show “The Voice” with her coach Blake Shelton, after working with Adam Levine. Prior to the show, she released her sophomore project, “Release the Sound,” featuring “Gypsy Prophet,” which was chosen “Best Country Video Performance” by singer-songwriters Chris Stapleton and Charlie Worsham for American Songwriter Magazine’s 30th anniversary song contest.

The fun will continue on Saturday, April 1, with the bounce house for the kids and food specials. Saturday game times are 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

“Pack the Park” coincides with Faculty and Staff Appreciation Weekend, during which Eagles baseball players will honor faculty and staff prior to game time on Friday and Saturday.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for youth ages 6-17. Children ages 5 and under will be admitted at no charge. First responders in uniform and military personnel also receive free admission.
