Who is Nicki Minaj? My first impression of Nicki Minaj was that she was very strange and borderline disgusting.  I happened to catch a snippet of her on Saturday Night Live this past weekend.  She is actually very pretty and very talented.  She was in 2 skits.  My favorite is The Creep.

Her real name is Onika Tanya Maraj. She was born on December 8, 1984, in Saint James, a suburb of Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.  She is considered a Trinidadian Hip Hop and R&B recording artist and songwriter.  She starting trying to break into the music industry in 2007.

Minaj says she created alter-egos to deal with different aspects of her life. Roman Zolanski is her twin brother alter-ego. She becomes him when she is angry. In "Bottoms Up" with Trey Songz she says it is Roman that is doing the rapping.  She also has a song out called Roman's Revenge.

Her debut album, Pink Friday, was released in November 2010.  My favorite, and recently downloaded, is Right Thru Me.  Most of her songs have a lot of dirty words so be wary if your youngsters are doing any downloads of her music--make sure to get the clean version.
