While others were enjoying their Thanksgiving festivities and guests, Kristopher Tong of New Boston, Texas was spending the weekend attending the 2014 National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Georgia. Kristopher was one of only 26 delegates selected from Texas to attend the Congress. Meeting with other Texas delegates on Thanksgiving Day in Austin, the group flew to Atlanta on Friday the 29th. With a thousand people attending from across the United States, several speed meetings were established to make friends from across the country. Delegates exchanged state pins with delegates from other states as a way of introduction.

Power speakers kept everyone's enthusiasm elevated and the celebration dance was held on the final night. Workshops were held on expanding horizons, speaking, and leadership. Delegates from different areas, including Puerto Rico and Hawaii, entertained the delegates. There were tours to several areas in Atlanta--the Aquarium, Hall of Fame, and historical landmarks. All the delegates volunteered for several community service projects around the Atlanta area. The National 4-H Congress ended on Tuesday morning, December 2.

Kristopher is the President of West Bowie 4-H and has been in 4-H for four years. He has participated in activities such as shooting sports, Plant and Grass identification, and wildlife. He attended the Farm Bureau leadership camp last summer at Tarleton and Wildlife Conservation Camp outside Corpus Christi in 2013.

Thanks to Kristopher for representing our community and helping serve in other community projects. It's people like Kristopher who make a difference in our community and we're happy to have him living right here in our own backyard.
