Murder Suspect in Sheriffs Deputy’s Death Headed to Mental Hospital
A judge has ordered Tucker Strickland reprimanded to a mental hospital in East Texas.Strickland is accused of the April 2011 shooting death of Bowie County Sheriff’s Deputy Sherri Jones. He was being transported to a hearing at the County Courthouse in New Boston, Texas when he allegedly overpowered Jones in the basement of the courthouse, took her gun and shot her to death.
Strickland was later arrested after fleeing in the transport van to Ashdown, Arkansas. He has been deemed unfit for trial at this point and will be at the mental hospital for an undetermined amount of time.
