The Miller County Fair just celebrated 100 years. I hope you didn't miss the fun. I participated as a judge for the pet show and enjoyed good old fashion fair food, too. The fair was held in Fouke, Ark., at the fairgrounds located across from the school.

There is just something about a county fair that draws me in. Of course, I like the big rides at the big fairs but the down-home type of atmosphere that you get when attending a county fair is like none other. Everyone talks to you like they know you even if they don't. I tried the famous Martin Fries from one of the local vendors. I kept hearing people say "you'd better get some of those Martin Fries," and I couldn't resist. They were super yummy!

The pet show had some great entries and I see this becoming a huge event next year. The fat cat stole the show. She was 18 pounds of fat cat and drew the attention of the pug that entered the best trick category and the terrier that entered the smallest pet competition although I think she was intimidated by the fat cat because the cat outweighed her by a few pounds.

Be sure to follow the Miller County Fair on Facebook so you don't miss next year's fair.
