In what looks like a scene straight out of an action movie, members of Maroon 5 play bank robbers who prey on Adam Levine‘s place of employment in a behind-the-scenes clip from the video shoot for ‘Payphone’ (via E! Online). Levine ditches his normally cool rocker duds for a boring grey suit and thick-rimmed glasses, while his gun-wielding bandmates don all black and masks as they fire at the frontman.

The opening of the BTS clip reminds us of the opening of ‘The Dark Knight,’ with the Maroon 5 criminals storming the bank and shouting for everyone to get down and stay down. Throughout the sneak peek, we get glimpses of the bloodied and battered Levine dodging bullets, running through the bank with his super sexy female colleague, and escaping the mayhem by way of his vintage automobile. If we didn’t know better, we’d think we were watching deleted scenes from ‘Die Hard,’ with car explosions, helicopters, and police chases all making appearances.

Levine also lends some quirky, hilarious commentary to the clip. Before explaining his role, he says that they’re filming the ‘Payphone’ video while slyly slipping in, “Which is currently occupying the No. 1 spot on iTunes.” He then continues, “I work at a bank. I have no self confidence. It’s gonna be a very difficult role for me to play because I’m a cocky motherf—er.” Oh, Adam.
