It's a busy week at the Texarkana, Ark. School District. Plenty of activities are scheduled that you will want to check out.February 19 at 5:30 p.m.,  the 7th and 8th grade students at North Heights Junior High will present their Marketing Plan projects at the Business Expo. Students have created Marketing Plans for local small businesses in the Texarkana area. They have researched the marketing needs for the partnering businesses and have designed real-world marketing plans for each business in which 21st century skills such as creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking were implemented while using 100 percent technology.

As an Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy, students at NHJH are taught how to apply their presentation, technology, and 21st century skills through project-based learning in order to be college and career ready. The following business partners will participate in this project and will hear the marketing plan created by students: La Fogata Mexican Restaurant, Joe's Pizza, Almost Everything King of Car Audio, Cook's Heating and Air, All in Good Taste Bakery, Kona Ice Shaved Ice Truck, and Fish Creek Restaurant.

Also today, Arkansas High School will hold a FAFSA workshop at the 6 p.m. at the Arkansas High School red wall. Texarkana College representative Bea Ross will be on hand to help parents as they go through the FAFSA data entry process. Parents are encouraged attended this event.

This Saturday, February 21, College Hill Elementary students and parents are partnering with the Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department to offer smoke detectors to homes neighboring their campus. Students and fire fighters will canvass the neighborhood and place fire safety information and smoke detector sign-up forms in mailboxes. The fire department will in turn take the surveys and contact those who have signed up.

Finally, the district will be presenting Black History Programs. The Washington Academy Charter School will hold its program February 20, North Heights Junior on February 24, College Hill Elementary on February 25, and Arkansas High School on February 27.
