Lorde Slams E! for Contacting Her Boyfriend to Ask if They’re Engaged

Ever since Lorde became one of the most famous teenagers on the planet, she's been outspoken about some of the negative aspects of fame, including media attention paid to her private life.  Her latest complaint: reporters contacting her boyfriend to ask if they're engaged.

"You have officially hit the big time when creeps from e think wearing rings means getting married," Lorde tweeted.  She was not only referring to E!'s recent story about the fact that she stepped out wearing a ring on "that" finger, but also to a message received by her boyfriend, James Lowe, the text of which she included in her tweet.

The message either text or email, it's not clear is allegedly from a woman who works for E! Entertainment television, who said that she met James in December. She writes, "There are some new photographs of Lorde out today wearing what appears to be a diamond ring on her ring finger.  Are you two engaged?  Thank you in advance for anything you can share and congratulations if it's true!"

When this story first went around, a rep for Lorde told ABC News Radio that the singer is "definitely NOT engaged."
