A local group is giving a helping hand to the family of Miller County Corrections Officer Lisa Mauldin who was killed after being attacked by an inmate at the facility on Sunday.

The ArkLaTex 100 Club gave immediate assistance to the family with a $15,000 check to use for any needs they had. The group says that Officer Mauldin made the ultimate sacrifice while in the line of duty. Mauldin was killed as she carried out her pledge of protecting those she served. With heavy hearts and sadness for Officer Mauldin’s family and friends, our prayers are with this family as well as are the Miller County Sheriff’s office personnel as they grieve the loss of one of their own.

Through the vision of Gail and Ed Eichler, the ArkLaTex 100 Club, Inc. was founded in 2016 and was initially funded by The Clay Eichler Memorial Fund with the sole purpose of benefitting our local police and firefighters in Bowie and Miller Counties.

Now a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization, the ArkLaTex 100 Club is charged with raising funds to carry on and be a resource to those who give their life every day to serve and protect the citizens of Bowie and Miller County.

The first priority is to offer immediate financial support to the family of those first responders who are lost in the line of duty and any surplus funding is used for non budgeted items needed to make these men and women safer while performing their jobs through purchasing life-saving equipment and/or additional safety training.

The sole purpose of the Arklatex 100 Club is to benefit our local police and firefighters on both sides of the state line. The goal of the organization is to raise funds for the dependents of our first responders lost in the line of duty. Remaining funds will be used to purchase any unbudgeted but necessary life-saving equipment and for additional safety training.

The ArkLaTex 100 Club is the only citizen-sponsored charitable organization established to support the families of officers and firefighters killed while protecting citizens. To make a contribution contact their website.
