One month after dropping "Glorious," which is the first single from his forthcoming new album, Macklemore pulls up with Lil Yachty for "Marmalade." The song was played on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 Radio show earlier on Wednesday (July 26), and you can hear it below.

From what we can tell, the new track sounds more like a Lil Yachty track than one belonging to Macklemore's catalog. The instrumental sounds almost like an ice cream truck, and both Yachty and the West Coast-based, positivity-spreading rapper make heavy use of Auto-Tune. It basically typifies the "bubble gum trap" sound Yachty's been cultivating for the last year or so. It sounds pretty good, too.

During his interview with Zane Lowe, Macklemore explains the themes of his new album, which doesn't yet have a title.

"'Glorious' and 'Marmalade' are the first two songs off the album," Macklemore says before noting the drastic differences between the two songs. "I always try to give a different palette of sounds and textures and vibes. [With] this album... I was in a good place man. There's some darker songs, for sure, but, for the most part, like, if I'm in a happy place and life is good, then that's gonna be reflected on the album."

Elsewhere in the interview, Macklemore praises Lil Yachty for his originality and willingness to remain true to himself no matter what. Macklemore also says he's got 40 songs recorded for his new album so far, and hopes to get down to 14-16 tracks. Sounds pretty hearty.

There's no word on when "Marmalade" will be hitting Apple Music and other streaming services, but it should be pretty soon.

Macklemore's next album will be his first project since 2016's This Unruly Mess I've Made. The project will be his first time in a long time not working with Ryan Lewis.
