LifeShare Extends Hours for Blood Donations to Help Flooded Areas
LifeShare Blood Center is extending its center hours until 7PM through Thursday, August 31, to accommodate additional blood donations because of the severe weather along the coast.
Blood drives have been cancelled that were planned in the areas that are now being affected by the flood from Hurricane Harvey. That leaves blood supplies very low in a very critical time. Eligible donors are encouraged to help support patients in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, and to help maintain a stable supply in our community.
Cancelled blood drives and closed centers have resulted in the elimination of more than 400 expected LifeShare blood donations in the Beaumont, Texas and Lake Charles, La. areas due to flood conditions. LifeShare is the blood provider to hospitals in these areas and is currently supporting medical teams in the Houston area with donated blood.
