A campus celebration and  steel signing is on tap today. The University of Arkansas Community College at Hope is holding the event for the new instructional facility that is being built in Texarkana, Arkansas. This facility is the first off campus instructional facility for UACCH. Festivities will be during the noon hour at the future location at 3506 East 54th Street.

The Occupy Texarkana group is holding a peaceful demonstration in front of the downtown Post Office until 5pm this afternoon. The group is standing in solidarity with the Occupy Dallas and Occupy Wall Street Movements. The group says it has received all the official permits from both states and the federal government to hold the event in front of the post office which also houses the Federal Court Rooms in Texarkana.

The 13th Annual Bramlett Beans & Cornbread Community Fundraiser, hosted by the former Mayor and the Texarkana, Texas Parks and Recreation Department is happening Thursday December 1st from 11 am to 1pm at the Southwest Center in Texarkana. The cost for lunch, which includes cornbread and beans, tea, coffee and dessert is only $5 per person or six non perishable food items. Money and food items donated at the lunch will go toward food baskets for truly needy families in the Texarkana area—a coordinated effort by the Texarkana Water Utilites and the cities of Texarkana, Texas and Texarkana, Arkansas.
