Good Tuesday, Here are some stories making headlines today:
Unemployment assistance is available for workers in 23 Texas Counties hit by wildfires. The Texas Workforce Commission announced an expanded presidential disaster declaration.
The United States Supreme Court will not hear an appeal from followers of evangelist Tony Alamo who had their children taken away when they would not agree not to expose them to the controversial ministry.
The high court refused today to hear an appeal from several Alamo followers who sued the Arkansas Departmenet of Human Services after their children were taken away in 2008.
Social workers feared the children might someday be abused, and told the parents to break their financial dependence on Alamo’s ministry.
A 14 year old boy died this past weekend after an accidental shooting during a sleepover in Southwest Arkansas. The mother of Kerk Caldwell Jr. says she wants gun owners to remember to lock and safely store their firearms.
The Fox 33 TV Station in Shreveport, Louisiana is conducting a poll survey to decide which NFL Football game to air this Sunday. The choice is between the Dallas Cowboys vs. New England Patriots game or the New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers contest.
