J.W.’s News Update: Thursday October 6, 2011

Good Thursday, Here are some stories making headlines today:

Rammage Farms Restaurant in Hooks Texas has been destroyed by an early morning blaze.  Hooks Texas Volunteer Firefighters and other volunteers fought the fire this morning. The cause of the blaze is unknown.

Another fire this morning  has damaged the Amigo Juans Restaurant on Hampton Road at the Summerhill Road Exit. The extent of damage is unknown.

The Fall Gathering of Authors annual event is coming up later this month. The event will be held Saturday October 22nd at the Fine Arts Building on the Four States Fairgrounds from 10 am to 4pm. The event will include writers from our local area as well as from around a Four State Region. Both adult and childrens authors will be on hand and there will be plenty of family activities.

The prior evening there will be a Charity Dinner also to be held at the Fine Arts Building from 7 to 9pm.  All monies raised from the dinner at the Gathering of Authors will go to St. Jude Children's Hospital in their effort to beat Kid's Cancer. In Sports:

The Texas Rangers are awaiting the winner of the playoff series finale between the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers. If the Tigers win then Texas will host game 1 of the American League Championship Series on Saturday in Arlington. If the Yankees win then the Rangers will begin the series on the road.
