Good Friday, Here are some stories making headlines today:
The Gilmer Texas Police Department has issued a child abduction alert for a missing 13 year old girl. Authorities are looking for 13 year old Jasmine Jenkins described as a black female, 5′ 9″ 120 pounds, brown hair , brown eyes wearing a yellow tank top and blue shorts.
Police are also looking for 27 year old Jonathan Darden, a black male 6’0″ tall, 180 pounds with black hair, brown eyes wearing a gray t-shirt, black shorts, black nike shoes with a scar on his right knee and abdomen.
The suspect was driving a red 1999, Honda Accord with a Texas License Plate number of 099xks. The suspect was last heard from in Gilmer, Texas. Law enforcement officials believe this child to be in grave or immediate danger. The Texas DPS has investigated a fatal traffic accident on Interstate 30. Troopers say the accident occured near the 192 mile marker. Authorities say an east bound tractor trailer struck a pick-up truck forcing the vehicle into a slide skid into the center median and the truck rolled onto the passenger side. The DPS says a passenger in the pick-up 69 year old Christine Talent was taken to Christus St. Michael where she was later pronounced dead.
The Labor Department says the unemployment rate actually improved in July. Figures released today show the rate ticking down from 9.2% in June to 9.1% in July. Government officials say the private sector created 117,000 thousand jobs. Both numbers were better than economist had predicted.
The Texas Rangers ended a 3 game losing streak yesterday in Detroit by beating the Tigers 5-2.
