Texarkana area schools will be kicking off the week-long effort for Red Ribbon Week from October 28- November 1 and is sponsored by the student group Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD).

SADD’s mission is to provide students with the best prevention and intervention tools to help deal with underage drinking, impaired driving, other drug use. SADD was formed with the intent of students helping students in dealing with these very destructive issues.

The organization started off a small group of students, teachers, and other adults focused on the goal of education and prevention and has grown to the nationally recognized organization that is it today.

Red Ribbon Week is the most far-reaching and well-known drug prevention event in America. Red Ribbon activities promote positive choices, good character, and a healthy lifestyle for children of all ages.

Here is what is going on this week.

Monday

Students vote to be drug-free. Students are encouraged to wear red white and blue on Monday.

Tuesday

"Check yourself" and be drug-free. Students are encouraged to wear Paid or checked clothing on Tuesday.

Wednesday

"Team Up Against Drugs" Students wear their favorite sports teas.

Thursday

"Lei off Drugs" Students will be given a Lei to wear.

Friday

"Hooked on Books, not Drugs" Students can dress up as their favorite book character.
