If today was election day, who would you choose to be our next President of the United States -- Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump? One week before the November 2016 election day I posted this question on Facebook.

In less than 24 hours, I had close to 200 responses and it was an overwhelming landslide in favor of Trump. That result was surprising to me. It could be because I don't usually talk politics so I don't know where my friends and neighbors stand unless they have a yard sign. You may be talking to me right now saying something about Texas and Arkansas always being red states but that hasn't always been the case.

My exact question posted on Facebook was, "If you voted today, would it be Trump or Hillary? No fighting please, just pick one or the other." Here are some of the comments I received on my page:

Just getting you warmed up for some of the longer responses.

For the most part everyone played well and followed the instructions. Obviously there are more choices on the actual ballot than the two I asked people to chose between. I was looking for a clear answer without it being buried in a bunch of words. Jane's response may explain the area's overwhelming response for Trump.

Now I wish I had asked for people to respond with their state as well. I know there were a few Canadians in the pack. I have a large amount of friends from all over the United States and I posted the question as "public" so anyone could have responded and still can but in case you would rather remain anonymous, use the box below to take part in my online poll.

Only a few elections in recent history have held me captive to the bitter end. This will be my 13th presidential election. In many of those elections, my vote didn't count but my parents' did. Who remembers the Electoral College votes versus the popular vote of 1976 between President Gerald Ford and Georgia Governor Jimmy Carter? That was a cliffhanger with Carter winning both the popular vote and the presidency. How about that "Hanging Chad" situation in Florida in 2000 when George W. Bush beat out Al Gore. That was a big to be continued recount debacle.
