The Texarkana Homeless Coalition is getting pumped up for the first "Bridge City Project" this Friday night in downtown Texarkana. Community leaders, volunteers, government leaders and others will spend the night as many homeless do, in boxes.

The Texarkana Homeless Coalition has put this event together to raise awareness and funds for the segment of our community most in need. From their event page...

Participants will spend the event night sleeping outside in a box or they may buy their way out with a $100 donation and a stand-in person to fill their box. In addition to “box residents”, we are asking for monetary sponsors and event volunteer teams. Multiple press outlets will be on hand as government officials, local businesses, churches, and social service agencies participate in this city-wide initiative.

Something fun will be the structure contest. Groups are getting together to create box structures for a contest and there will be awards including best structure and people's choice!

Registration forms to participate can be found at the Texarkana Homeless Coalition's Website.
