Harvest Texarkana says food and financial donations are at the lowest they've seen at this time of year. That is worrisome news for those in need during the Holiday Season and during the cold weather months. Jill Whittington, executive director, says the basic staple food items are in short supply due to lingering effects of the economy and several years of drought. Many food suppliers simply do not have excess inventory to donate to food banks this year.

Harvest Texarkana is having to purchase more food to meet the needs of area citizens. Help is needed in the form of food and financial donations. Food Drives are taking place at Gussano's Pizza and food will also be collected at Front Street and the downtown Post Office during the Texarkana Christmas Parade on Monday December 3rd.
