Turning my pool water from green with tadpoles to clear has not been an easy task the past two years mainly because we didn't close it properly. I didn't even attempt to open the pool last year. The cover has been over the pool for almost two full years. I was very afraid of what I would find under the tarp.

I was pleasantly surprised when I could actually see the bottom of the pool, even though the water was very gross.

Rather than fight the battle myself, I hired a professional. Usually you hear about pool boys but I had a pool woman! I had tried to hire someone two years ago but couldn't find anyone interested so this year I put my request on Facebook and suggestions rolled in. I made one call and got the ball rolling.

When I explained my situation to my new pool woman she initially thought it may take about two weeks to get it open. That was fine with me because two weeks is a lot shorter than two years! When she came over and saw the pool first hand, she said I would be swimming by the weekend. That was fantastic news!

I had a new sand filter that I wanted to use with my existing filter system. My pool gal was able to get that all hooked up with no problems once I pulled all the parts out. I also had a bunch of chemicals from my attempt to clean the pool two years ago. It was amazing how much stuff I had accumulated.

My existing filter system came from a store in Shreveport so we took a water sample there for testing. I picked up an open chemical system and a few other items and it was time to head back to Fouke.

The pool opening started on a Wednesday and by Saturday, I was able to start swimming. I have been in the pool every day that I can possibly make it happen.

This pool float was purchased for a much smaller version of Ethan about three years ago. It was hilarious to watch him on it now.
