This month Texarkana Friends of the Shelter are hosting a Fur Ball to raise money for our local animal shelter, the Animal Care and Adoption Center, in Texarkana, Ark.

Get your tickets now for this fun event. The first annual Fur Ball will be held Saturday, March 28, at Silvermoon on Broad Street in downtown Texarkana. The ball will start at 6:30 p.m. and you can party like an animal until 10:30 p.m. Dress is cocktail/business attire. Tickets are $75 per person and sponsorship opportunities are still available.

Debbie Brower, President of the Texarkana Friends of the Shelter group says, "Through the generosity of our supporters and donors, we plan to help save countless lives of many homeless animals in the Texarkana area, and this event will be one of several fundraisers we will be hosting this year."

Visit the event page on Facebook or Texarkana Friends of the Shelter online for more details. Proceeds from the event will support the Animal Care and Adoption Center which is the only animal shelter in Texarkana.

The Animal Care and Adoption Center is in need of funding for many projects. It is dedicated to improving the lives of homeless and unwanted pets that come into its care by providing shelter and medical care while finding loving, responsible, permanent homes for the animals. Please visit the Animal Care and Adoption Center website for more information.

Brower wants everyone to know that, "For our sponsors, your donations will be a contribution to help the homeless and unwanted animals of our area. We thank you in advance for your willingness to help!" To get more information about the Fur Ball, send an email to Debbie Brower or call 903-334-9605.

Whose Who? The shelter is ran by the City of Texarkana, Arkansas. The City of Texarkana, Texas also utilizes the shelter. Texarkana Friends of the Shelter is a non-profit organization made up of volunteers dedicated to assisting with necessary funding for the Animal Care and Adoption Center. All funds raised through events organized by Texarkana Friends of the Shelter are directly given back to the Animal Care and Adoption Center. The group plans to raise funds for local low-cost spay/neuter clinics, animal sponsorships to assist in adoptions, as well as many other necessary funds to help the shelter with upkeep. The Texarkana Friends of the Shelter is happy to announce that it has received its 501(c)3 status so all donations are tax deductible! The Texarkana Animal League is also involved in supporting the animal shelter. TAL purchases all of the vaccinations for the shelter as well as necessary medications for the animals at the shelter. TAL raises funds throughout the year with their biggest fundraiser being the Tails of Two Cities Day Planner. Their Low Income Spay/Neuter Assistance Program has spayed and neutered over 1000 animals in the community in addition to hundreds of animals that found homes through TAL's Foster Care Program.
