Looking for fun things to do in Texarkana during the holiday break? We never know what the weather is going to be during the Winter months so having an idea of fun stuff to do indoors is a good plan.

I found several places to go that either don’t cost anything or cost very little to enjoy.

    Discovery Place

    215 Pine St, Texarkana, Texas

    Check out the science lab. The exhibits explore health, sound, motion, electricity, astronomy and other sciences. They also have permanent features including an interactive Sound Wall, a Tinkering Studio and our spectacular Musical Tesla Coils. For more information call (903) 793-4831.

    Winter Arts at the Perot Theatre

    321 W 4th St, Texarkana, Texarkana

    TRAHC offers dynamic art experiences for children of all ages through hands-on art camps at our Arts on Main facility. Camps offer the opportunity for participants to work with local and professional artists. Our camps are a great opportunity to have fun while learning about art.

    Two Children's Art Camps:

    • Winter Art Camp Jr. with Amy Donohoe for Ages 5 – 7, December 27 through 29, Time: 1:30PM to 4:30PM, Cost: $65, Registration is required
    • Winter Art Camp Sr. with Megan Griffin for Ages 8 – 12, December 27 through 29, Time: 1:30PM to 4:30PM, Cost: $65, Registration is required

    Texarkana Regional Arts

    321 West 4th Street, Texarkana, Texas

    The Regional Arts Center began life as the first Federal District Courthouse in Texarkana in 1911.  Take a ride in the copper-cage elevator or walk the marble stairs. The old courtroom is now called Cabe Hall by most but the full name is “The Horace C. Cabe Great Hall.” The room has a 26 foot high, ornate ceiling often used for weddings, receptions, concerts and other events.

    Free admission to these art exhibits:

    • "He, She; Them" - The Art of Michelle Holman. Michelle Anne Holman was born and raised in Texarkana, Texas. Holman is an artist who creates large-scale oil painted portraits. http://www.trahc.org/exhibits-and-events/31480-he-she-them-the-art-of-michelle-holman
    • "Wandering The Heartland" - The Photography of Michael Leonard. Amazing photos to see. The artist, Michael Leonard, is originally from Missouri, he has lived in Fort Smith since retiring from the U.S. Navy in 1994. He is well known as an innovative and highly skilled photographer. Leonard says, “Capturing an image is a multifaceted emotional experience that allows me to combine my interest in art, music and travel into one all consuming passion.”

    Museum of Regional History

    219 N. State Line Avenue, Texarkana, Texas

    Texarkana’s first and oldest museum houses a variety of historical collections depicting the history of the region from the time of the Caddo through the founding of Texarkana and beyond. Located in the historic Offenhauser Insurance Building (1879), this museum includes interactive exhibits that explore the musical history of the region and tell the story of native son Scott Joplin, the “Father of Ragtime.” It is also the home of the Wilbur Smith Research Library.

    Starlight Arcade

    The arcade has something for all ages. Old style games and new style too. Including an 18-hole mini golf course. You can get a lot of tokens for not much money too. For more information call (903) 838-4263.
