I've seen a lot of country artists come and go throughout my radio career and have listened to a lot of music in my lifetime. In country music today, it is so easy for a new artist to get lost in all the new sounds of country music with so many new diversified artists trying to get a piece of the same pie. I can see where it could be very frustrating for a new artist trying to make it onto the country music charts. One artist who has actually been around for awhile and is finally getting his due is Frankie Ballard. I remember when Frankie released the single "A Buncha Girls" I thought at the time, this guy has a fresh new sound and doesn't mimic a lot of other artists whose musical styles sound familiar. No, I'm not knocking other artists.

When I first heard Frankie Ballard, I knew this guy was destined for stardom. He stood out in the pack. A good country song has to connect with an audience and Ballard's music does that.

When Frankie Ballard broke into the top 15 with "Helluva Life" fans would sing it back to him in concert and would use social media to share their own stories and personal experiences. Ballard would say, "I've been slugging it out on the road for a long, long time and it's great when I'm far from home to have people out there know who I am and to feel like we've created a real bond."

'Sunshine & Whiskey' is his latest album and it spawned the #1 single of the same name. It pretty much put him on the map for good. The sing-a-long song has fast become a fan favorite from this talented singer/songwriter/musician from Battle Creek, Michigan. Oh, almost forgot to tell you, Ballard can also play the drums.

Ballard has been making music for 10 years and calls his latest album Sunshine & Whiskey an emotional journey as well as a musical journey. He just earned another number one song with "Young and Crazy."

Don't miss Frankie Ballard in Texarkana on Saturday, November 14 at Shooters for the 2015 Taste of Country Christmas Tour. Tickets are $12 for a limited time only and available online here.
