Your toilet could be a ticking time bomb. Toilets are being recalled due to a problem with the flushing mechanisms that can cause the toilet to explode. 

Flushmate toilets are made in the USA. The Flushmate® III Pressure-Assist Flushing System Series 503 is the item causing the problem. According to the company, the recall is voluntary:

The system can burst at or near the vessel weld seam releasing stored pressure. This pressure can lift the tank lid and shatter the tank, posing impact or laceration hazards to consumers and property damage. Flushmate has received 304 reports of the product bursting, resulting in property damage and 14 impact or laceration injuries.

You may also call FLUSHMATE’s Recall Hotline toll-free to verify whether your Flushmate III unit is included in the recall at 800-303-5123 between 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.

So far the company has recalled of 2.3 million toilets in the U.S. They were sold at Home Depot and Lowe's. The units are rectangular, black, two-piece vessels made of injection molded plastic.
