Amanda Fussell Woodman Memorial CASA Colorful 5K And Family Fun Run
Texarkana’s first ever color run, the Amanda Fussell Woodman Memorial CASA Colorful 5K and Family Fun Run, will be Saturday, Nov. 2.
The Colorful 5K is a 3.1 mile fitness running/walking event on a cross country trail. The run begins on an open field and winds through a dirt trail system. The route is repeated once. The family walk portion will remain on the sidewalk around the church to allow room on the narrow trail for runners. This will be repeated three times for a one mile total.
The race begins with each participant releasing a bag of color into the air creating a beautiful burst of color. Stations will also be located throughout the race route where you will be showered with brightly colored powder, turning your white shirt into a color explosion. The color is made from eco-friendly food colored cornstarch.
Early registration will guarantee you receive a white CASA t-shirt and bag of color. No matter what, wearing white clothing will allow the colors to show. Don’t wear clothing that you care about (including your shoes). Most of the powder will come out, but there may be some residue.
The Colorful 5K and Family Fun Day will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the race starts at 8 a.m.
The race will be held at Trinity Baptist Church located at 3115 Trinity Blvd., Texarkana, Ark. 71854.
To enter, download the entry form and return it with your payment made payable to CASA of Northeast Texas. These may be dropped off at 1201 Main St., Texarkana, Texas 75501 or mailed to: P.O. Box 1546, Texarkana, Texas 75504.
The deadline for early registration is Oct. 18. On race day, Nov. 2, on-site registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the race will begin at 8 a.m.
Entry fees on or before Oct. 18 are $15 for adults, $20 for adults with shirt, $10 for children under 10, or $15 for children under 10 with a shirt. Participants who register early will receive color bags.
After Oct. 18 and on race day, registration is $25 for adults and $20 for children. Color bags and t-shirts are not guaranteed for these participants.

About Amanda and CASA
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a national volunteer organization for neglected or abused children. CASA volunteers get to know the child and speak to everyone involved in the child’s life, including their family members, teachers, doctors, lawyers, social workers, and others. The information they gather and their recommendations help the court make informed decisions. CASA volunteers commit to a child until the case is closed and the child is in a safe, permanent home.
The CASA Colorful 5K is named in Amanda Fussell Woodman’s honor for her many years of devotion to child abuse prevention in Texarkana and the surrounding 12 counties. Amanda worked tirelessly to promote the CASA for Children program, fundraising, recruiting and training volunteers along with her support for every aspect of the program. This family fun event is exactly what Amanda would have envisioned as the next step in our pursuit to end child abuse. Please join CASA as we honor Amanda for her commitment to changing the lives of our community’s most vulnerable citizens – our children.
