Additional Information

The Route

The Colorful 5K is a 3.1 mile fitness running/walking event on a cross country trail. The run begins on an open field and winds through a dirt trail system. The route is repeated once. The family walk portion will remain on the sidewalk around the church to allow room on the narrow trail for runners. This will be repeated three times for a one mile total.

The Color

The race begins with each participant releasing a bag of color into the air creating a beautiful burst of color. Stations will also be located throughout the race route where you will be showered with brightly colored powder, turning your white shirt into a color explosion. The color is made from eco-friendly food colored cornstarch.

The Clothing

Early registration will guarantee you receive a white CASA t-shirt and bag of color. No matter what, wearing white clothing will allow the colors to show. Don't wear clothing that you care about (including your shoes). Most of the powder will come out, but there may be some residue.

About Amanda and CASA

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a national volunteer organization for neglected or abused children. CASA volunteers get to know the child and speak to everyone involved in the child's life, including their family members, teachers, doctors, lawyers, social workers, and others. The information they gather and their recommendations help the court make informed decisions. CASA volunteers commit to a child until the case is closed and the child is in a safe, permanent home.

The CASA Colorful 5K is named in Amanda Fussell Woodman's honor for her many years of devotion to child abuse prevention in Texarkana and the surrounding 12 counties. Amanda worked tirelessly to promote the CASA for Children program, fundraising, recruiting and training volunteers along with her support for every aspect of the program. This family fun event is exactly what Amanda would have envisioned as the next step in our pursuit to end child abuse. Please join CASA as we honor Amanda for her commitment to changing the lives of our community's most vulnerable citizens - our children.
