Great news, Stiles — a.k.a. the best character Teen Wolf character — fans! While speaking with Entertainment Weekly about Season 6 of the hit MTV series, showrunner Jeff Davis confirmed that Dylan O'Brien will not only be back in the show, but he will play a critical role in the upcoming season.

Davis confirmed that much of the season will focus on O'Brien's character Stiles, making him more important than ever to Teen Wolf's increasingly complex story-lines.

"Stiles is a big part of the season because a lot of this season’s mystery revolves around him," the showrunner told EW. "We’re going to see just what Stiles’ friendship means to Scott, Lydia, and Malia. We’re going to see why exactly he’s Scott’s best friend, what it means that he’s Malia’s human anchor, and what his will-they-or-won’t-they relationship is with Lydia."

Fans will also notice Stiles wearing a hand brace in the first episode of the upcoming season — but Davis revealed that the real-life injury behind it, which "was written into the show," was not related to the more serious injuries O'Brien sustained while filming Maze Runner: The Death Cure in Vancouver. The hand brace scene was filmed before the actor's on-set accident on March 17.

While the release date for O'Brien's film has been pushed back to 2018 due to his injuries, Davis assured Teen Wolf viewers that the incident will not affect Stiles, the season, or the actor's level of involvement on the MTV show.

"When we were going into discussing this season, knowing that Dylan O’Brien had a big movie he was going off to do, we wanted to make sure that Stiles was going to be a very important part of Teen Wolf," he added. "So a lot of this story is about Stiles."
