Delta Gamma Sigma Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota is conducting an impact project called #KnowYourImpact this week in Texarkana.

The Impact Project, #KnowYourImpact, is a national social media campaign that aims to publicly honor people who have left a positive impact on others, often without realizing it. The project was designed in support of American Counseling Association President Dr. Thelma Duffey’s 2015-2016 Presidential initiative on anti-bullying and interpersonal violence.

Delta Gamma Sigma has decided to bring this project to Texarkana. We will be conducting this project at Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market on Richmond Rd., Saturday, March 12 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. We will also be conducting the project at Texas A&M University - Texarkana on Wednesday, March 9 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Our hope is to raise awareness about bullying and interpersonal violence, as well as to publicly honor those who have made a positive impact in people’s lives. Half of our proceeds will go to benefit Domestic Violence Prevention in Texarkana. In order for people to participate in the project we ask that they donate a minimum of $1.

"This community impact project is such a great opportunity for Delta Gamma Sigma to get involved and to raise awareness in our community. We decided to partner with Domestic Violence and donate half of the proceeds to benefit their efforts. Domestic violence is a real and ongoing epidemic, and the efforts made by our shelter and by the entire Domestic Violence Prevention organization should not go unnoticed or unsupported," said Carly Rhyne, President of the Delta Gamma Sigma Chapter.

Domestic Violence Prevention's mission is to assist domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking victims who are in recovery and empower them to achieve safe, independent and violence-free lifestyles. And although the emergency shelter is a crucial factor in achieving that mission, they offer other services as well. DVP provides legal advocacy, assistance in filing orders of protection, court accompaniment, case management to help victims find employment and affordable housing, support group, one-on-one counseling, safety planning, and crisis intervention. They also have a program geared toward helping children overcome severe emotional and physical trauma they have experienced while living in violent homes.
