Lena Dunham, the creator and star of the acclaimed HBO series Girls, isn't so Hollywood that she can't express her admiration for another celebrity: in this case,Taylor Swift.

Sources say Dunham talks about her "Twitter friendship" with Taylor.  "We have D.M.'ed. I’m a really big fan," she says.  How did they first hook up?  Dunham explains, "She started following me, and here’s how you find out Taylor Swift is following you. You start hearing from all the insane Taylor Swift fans that are like, ‘If Taylor Swift loves you I love you.’"

Eventually, Dunham says, she sent Taylor a message, telling her, "I just want to let you know that your albums have gotten me through a lot of very hard times.'"  She also says she tweeted that she thought Taylor's new album Red was amazing, even though she got tons of backlash from her followers.

"Every one of my Twitter followers was like, ‘I so hope that you’re joking,'" recalls Dunham. "But I have no interest in liking anything ironically. If I wanted to be ironic, I’d grow a mustache."

The new season of Girls premieres January 13 -- a date that just happens to be Taylor's favorite number.  Hmm...
