Creative Writing Workshop for Educators

The Texarkana Museums System and the East Texas Writing Project announce a free

Creative Writing Workshop for educators to be held at the P.J. Ahern House Museum, Texarkana, Arkansas. The workshop is being offered in conjunction with National Novel Writing Month and is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. To 1:30 p.m. Participants will earn three (3) Professional Development Hours (CPEs).

November is National Novel Writing Month, a yearly event sponsored by the non-profit organization, Office of Letters and Light. It's a fun, seat-of-your-pants writing event where the challenge is to complete an entire novel in just 30 days. Participants begin writing November 1 and must finish by midnight, November 30.

The OLL provides lesson plans, workbooks and other tools to assist teachers in using NaNoWriMo in the classroom. Elementary, Middle School and High School program materials are available through the Young Writers' Program. This workshop will give teachers an overview of the program, a bound booklet of resources, and the opportunity to participate in writing sessions led by Teachers Consultants from the East Texas Writing Project, Texas A&M University-Texarkana.

Registration is required. Deadline for registration is October 31, 2013. All materials provided. Refreshments will be served in the Ahern House dining room. For more information or to register, please contact: Judy Whitfield at judy.whitfield@tamut.edu or call the Texarkana Museums System at 903-793-4831.
