City Board To Vote on Raising Water Rates at Tonight’s Meeting

The Texarkana, Ark., City Board of Directors meet tonight at City Hall and is expected to vote on an ordinance authorizing the Texarkana Water Utilities to raise water rates 10 percent for all customer classifications. The rate increase would pay for the acquisition of additional Millwood Lake water rights from the Southwest Arkansas Water District.

The board will also consider an ordinance amending, updating, and revising portions of Chapter 5 of the City Code of Ordinances.

Also on tonight's agenda, are comments from the mayor and questions from directors. There will be a presentation of the Mardi Gras parade float winners, a consent agenda and citizens' communication time.

A closed executive session for making appointments to various boards, commissions, and committees will follow.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the open portion of tonight's meeting that gets under way at 6PM at Arkansas City Hall.
