This Saturday (Mar. 16), come out and sample some of the best Chili in East Texas. It's the Telford Chili Cook Off Benefit for James Poole at Trailhead Park in downtown New Boston, Texas.

James has been a corrections officer at the Telford Unit since 1995, and was recently diagnosed with brain and lung cancer. His friends, family and co-workers would like to invite everyone to participate in this event to show support for Mr. Poole and his battle with this horrible disease.

The chili cook-off is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.. Judging will begin at 3:30 p.m., and chili will be served after the judging. The cost is $5 a bowl, and includes a drink, crackers, jalepeno peppers, and ketchup.

Chili Cook-off teams must register no later than March 14.

(I don't personally know Mr. Poole, but I saw on Facebook that Randy (James) Poole is a very important volunteer of the "Boxer Rescue of Texarkana". He fosters dogs, adopts, transports, and volunteers at events. If it's true that you can judge the character of a man, by how he treats animals, I believe this is a good man.)
