This sweet cat has been a great helper at the animal shelter in Texarkana. She has been at the shelter for a year and during that period of time, she has helped raise many litters of orphaned kittens. Now it is her turn for a happy home.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard the shelter staff tried, the puppies came down with Parvo and some of them died after they had been adopted into new homes. It is heartbreaking. Buddy is a 3 year old terrier mix, super smart and sweet dog at the animal shelter in Texarkana. His owner surrendered him to the shelter, no reason given but they did say he is good with children and other animals.
Ranger's owner surrendered him to the animal shelter but no reason was given. They said that he is a Lab-Mastiff mix and that he is a very sweet natured dog. He tested negative for heartworms which is awesome. He is not a puppy so no worry of things getting chewed up.

Summertime is a great time to adopt a new dog or kitten since the kids are out of school and families usually have a little more time to help a new family member get adjusted to their new home. Come to PetSmart on Saturday between 10AM and 3PM during the adoption event to see all of the sweet faces needing new homes.
New dogs are taken to the shelter every day. When I was there on Monday, five or six dogs came in as well as a litter of kittens that had been stuffed in a gunny sack with their momma and thrown out to die. Here are some of the new arrivals to the shelter as of Monday, July 11, 2016:
Lucky is a young, Flat-Coated Retriever. She is full of personality and bounds of playful energy that quickly are worked out with a few games of Frisbee and ball tossing. I believe she could be a great Frisbee catching dog with a little bit of work and a good thrower.
Visit PetSmart on Saturday, July 9 to see all of the furry fluffies available for adoption. Many cats, dogs, puppies and kittens will be waiting for a pat on the head and hopefully loving arms to carry them home to a new family.
