Texarkana Animal League is hosting its ninth annual Unleashed Party to distribute the 2016 day planners as well as raise funds for their many programs to help our local homeless animals. A fun evening of silent auctions and entertainment are in store for all who attend on Thursday, Oct. 29.

This week's featured pet is an adult shepherd mix from the shelter. He is already neutered, which means the adoption fee is less than $60. Sarge is good on a leash and loves affection. He is a great guard dog and no one will arrive at your home without him letting you know that you have company. His bark is scary but he is a sweetheart.

Because rain and stormy weather are expected this weekend, Oktoberfest has been rescheduled. The event is now set for 10AM on Saturday, November 14, at Front Street Plaza in downtown Texarkana.

Three dogs at the animal shelter will soon be taking a trip out of the wrong door if they are not adopted or moved into foster homes quickly. Mouse is a Terrier mix, small sized dog, that is approximately one and a half years old. When he first came to the shelter on January 23, he was very shy but he has now worked through that issue and is very outgoing. He is fun and loving with a joyful personality. He likes to cuddle, he is good with young kids. Mouse is also heartworm free.
