Gambit is the most adorable puppy. He is just a smidge bigger than Peanut, the shelter's office mascot. Gambit weighs approximately 15 pounds. He is a brindle mix pup. His ears look like they will stand up soon too.

Turbo is a mix of an English bulldog and a mountain cur, which makes him a very interesting dog. He is approximately 1 and-a-half years old. He has a wonderful personality and loves his people.

There will be a variety of dogs and cats available for adoption on Saturday, May 2, at PetSmart in Texarkana. Because of the pending rain, the rescue groups will be set up inside the store so be sure to look from the front to the back.

This sweet shepherd mix is between one and two years old. She is very frightened to be at the shelter and would do so much better if she was in a home. She walks great on a leash and appears to be very healthy. She loves affection.

Dogs get out of their yards, some runaway, others disappear and some are stolen. Often these dogs (and cats, pigs, horses, goats and chickens) wind up at the animal shelter.

Alfie is just a brown dog and that is what caught my eye because I knew he would be passed over for more colorful dogs but this is what I learned about him yesterday. He is calm, sweet, smart and respectful. He also appears to be house trained.
