What Time Do Your Kids Go To Sleep?

Well I hate to admit it but this parenting stuff is a little tough. My son is now 3 1/2 and my daughter is just a little over three months and I am beat. I have to be at work at 5am and that means trying, and I say that sarcastically, trying to get to sleep before 10pm

Bullying-My Personal Expierence

Bullying, is a word we hear often and some of us know all to well what it means. Some of us have no idea how something so small as getting picked on can be so harmful that it drives some kids to do very violent acts. I am probably a little odd since I have been on both sides of this bullying situation. As a child in primary school I was always proud to tell everyone that my mom was Japanese, she worked so hard to become a citizen of this country and to this day is still proud of her heritage. Little did I know how much I would be picked on because I was different.

My son Grant had the chance to go o a birthday party held at a local bounce house. Grant is 3 1/2 and this seemed to be the best place for a birthday party for kids his age. After a little time in the party room with pizza ,drinks ,cake and then presents, the kids then went into the room with some bounce houses and a trampoline, as well as a pit full of foam to jump in.

What Is The Strangest Food You Have Ever Eaten?

My Birthday was last Tuesday, and my sister and her husband made plans to come in over the weekend to come celebrate with the whole family. My mom and dad planned dinner at a local sushi restaurant, which was great by me since sushi is on of my favorite things to eat. Let me give you a little history on my family, my mother is Japanese and my father is just about everything else, German, Dutch, and two different kinds of American Indian. Strange food was kinda the norm at my parents house growing up.

Rethink Purity Teenage Event

This weekend I had a chance to do a little volunteer work at my church in Atlanta. They had an event for local teens from 7th to 12th grade at the Atlanta high school where teens got a chance to listen to live bands on Friday and Saturday and hear a great pair of speakers. The Rethink Teen Purity event features a husband and wife team Dan and Nicole Leitz from San Diego. Before serving lunch I had a chance to listen to the couple do separate presentations for the guys and girls. Here is a startling fact for you , the adult film industry makes more money than all of the pro sports combined.

School Pays Its Students To Show Up

Teen truancy is a real problem for a lot of schools, but especially so for the Dohn Community High School in Cincinnati. It only has a 14% graduation rate and has been deemed an “academic emergency” by the state of Ohio.

So the school is trying out a novel approach: it’s paying students to show up and behave themselves.
Kids with solid attendance and clean discipline records are being rewarded with Visa gift cards for amounts between $10 and $25, and the school is also making $5 deposits into saving accounts set up for those students.

Giving Kids an Allowance May Do More Harm Than Good — Dollars and Sense

For years, the prevailing wisdom behind doling out allowances to kids has been that the practice helps children learn about budgets, which, in turn, leads to better spending habits when they grow up — assumptions that may not be true.
